MASUNAGA Eyewear Now at Hicks Brunson!
We're excited to announce we now have MASUNAGA eyewear on display!
The following is the story of Masunaga from masunaga1905.com
The integrated production system
improves the detail and quality. For example, when Masunaga Optical
develops a new model, the molds are always built in-house. If there is a
problem in the wear comfort that can be felt only after completing one
pair of glasses, it will be corrected in the previous process’ promptly.
The company’s mission statement since the establishment is “We manufacture excellent eyeglasses. We want to make a profit if we can, but we don’t hesitate to take a loss. It is always in our thoughts to manufacture excellent eyeglasses.” These words are still the basis of the conduct code of employees even more than 100 years after its establishment."
The following is the story of Masunaga from masunaga1905.com
"Fukui, Japan is one of
the three largest production regions for optical frames in the world,
along with China and Italy. 97% of Japanese-made optical frames are
manufactured in Fukui. Masunaga Optical premiered the production of
eyeglasses in Fukui in 1905. The company founder Gozaemon Masunaga brought in skilled craftsmen from Osaka and Tokyo with the ambition of setting the optical industry solidly in place in Fukui.
He
entered into the industry the hard way, and at first the eyeglasses
manufactured in Fukui were regarded to be third-rate in the world. In
order to raise the quality standards of the products, Gozaemon
established a guild like system
where full-fledged craftsmen could create their own businesses. Owing
to this system, the number of eyeglass craftsmen increased gradually,
and the optical industry spread all over Fukui.
There are as many as 200 manual processes involved in making an optical frame. Generally, productivity is low when one company is in charge of all the processes. However, Masunaga Optical is the only company in Japan that has a factory in charge of all processes from raw materials to production and finish in an integrated way.

Face a' Face: New Frame Styles from The Silmo Convention in Paris
"Pure and truly contemporary lines, sensual volumes and colours, a refined sense of touch: the natural beauty of the eyes are fully revealed through the clear, graphic design of the frames.
Face a' Face designs diffuse audacity, glamour, a charming and pleasant, relaxed elegance, as well as a positive, altruist energy.
Signs of their time, the Face a' Face collections reveal the individual personality of their wearer. The glasses become a narcissistic object that underlines its wearers personality and makes it unforgettable.
Each frames own design and stylistic evolution is motivated by its various functions. Indeed, beyond its basic purpose (to give everyone the ability to look at things clearly), a Face a' Face frame is a guarantee of efficiency, of pleasure, of sharing, of style."
-Face a' Face - Paris
Face a' Face eyewear is created by hand, allowing for multiple layers of zyl to be combined to form fantastic colors and patterns that can suit even the most outgoing and extroverted person and yet also allow for more subtle tones and shapes that work with a more conservative style.
Heidi 3 in color 9259: A good fit for smaller faces. Has adjustable nosepads and plenty of color.
Viega 1 in color 100: Safari print accents black in a classic round shape sunglass.
Vinyl 3 in color 010: A bold rectangular crystal matte front with tortoise temples.
Gleam 2 in color 169: Retro-chic large rounded cat shape in aqua blue. Great for the beach!
Avril 2 in color 2129: Layered zyl adds dimension and color contrast adds style.
DV008 in color 696: From the "Rock" collection. This sunglass combines metal and zyl for lightweight fashion.
Macho 3 in color 004: Dark brown fades to light brown in this rectangular shape for a more subtle but classic look.
These styles are all currently available and we have many more in stock ready and waiting.
Come by and find your style today!

Zero G Eyewear

Hicks Brunson Eyewear is proud to present Zero G: A collection featuring super light, super thin titanium frames. Zero G, referring to Zero Gravity or weightlessness, speaks to the core of the brand... a collection that feels comfortable, secure and weightless on the face, but strong and substantial in its look.
Zero G frames are unique in several ways, many of which make the frames some of the most comfortable eyewear available. Particularly unique is the hinge design; which allows the temples to easily be changed out while providing access to the lenses by way of a single pin. The pin can only be removed by fitting the frame into a specially designed block used in conjunction with a hand tool. This design ensures a secure lens that will hold its place in the frame.
A distinct, yet subtle embossed "four squares" branding on the temples is representative of Zero G's promise for their frame designs.
"Four Squares" represents-
Perfect Balance
Strength
Simplicity
Timeless, Classic
The Zero G collection includes 23+ styles, with 4 colors per style.
